I had a hard time finding a full-body photo for comparison, because I hardly ever let anyone take my picture for many years. I was always the one who volunteered to take the group shot! I didn’t feel good about myself and I certainly didn’t want my photo taken – ever.
I am slowly but surely learning to love the me now on the right. It took me almost 5 years to get from the left to the right; mostly because of my own stubbornness & self-sabotage. I knew exactly what I needed to do, but I found myself often making choices that I knew I’d regret the next day. (some of you know the vicious cycle I’m talking about!) I tried all the trendy diets out there and drank more than my fair share of drinks that I thought would make me thin – because I thought that getting thin would make me happy.
A friend shared about the THM (Trim Healthy Mama) plan. I ordered the plan book. I read it between Christmas and New Year’s. I wanted to understand the program. It was truly eye-opening – I had never heard of a plan that gave me choices! That gave me food freedom. That offered me grace to start over in 3 hours after eat off-plan (because I’m human and I do!) I’ve made choices to change my life, because God only gives one body and I decided that I needed to start taking better care of it. My husband and I started on the plan on Valentine’s Day (yes, I know – who does that right?) He needed to lose weight and learn to eat healthy – as a cross country coach and runner himself, he exercised but wasn’t eating properly. He became my first “client,” as well as my taste-tester, as we learned the THM plan together.
I’ve gotten healthier inside and out. I take supplements. I use essential oils. I use toxin-free skin and body care products, and cleaning products. I’m an avid reader, and I try to constantly educate myself on things that I can do to improve my health. My insulin resistance is now under control. I feel so much better! I’ve learned to accept myself where I am now, and know that feeling good and being healthier is way more important than any number that may show on the scale.
But if I’m being honest with you and myself, sometimes the me on the right still sees the me on the left when I look in the mirror. The me on the right still struggles with shopping for clothes that aren’t in the plus-size section. To make good choices. To continue to STAY the person on the right.

I’d secretly love to open a little bakery/café to sell THM treats and healthy lunches. (OK, so I guess that’s no longer a secret?!)
Where is the extreme dislike button? (I gotta be honest!) I do like to walk. And my husband and I now play pickleball, and I may or may not have become addicted to it!
Water is my favorite drink!
Just plain water. I could drink nothing but water for the rest of my life. I’m a cheap date – I always order water in a restaurant!
Traveling has always been important to me.
Some of my favorite memories were made while on vacations with family and friends. My all-time favorite vacation? Can I choose 2? Our family vacation to England/Scotland with our kids, and the Mediterranean cruise to Italy/Spain my husband and I went on with friends.

Do they pay people to watch Netflix/Hulu/Prime? Is that a thing? Because it really should be a thing. Please sign me up!
I love to read.
I love to go to the library. I could spend hours in a bookstore. I like several genres, but I like to read books by my favorite authors like John Grisham and Mary Kay Andrews.
Shopping is my jam!
I’m a huge fan of Amazon and my husband says I act like it’s my personal duty to keep local UPS drivers employed! But I love to shop almost anywhere, anytime. I even love to grocery shop! I love hunting for new products to try. And I have the receipts to prove it!
My favorite thing to be called is Mimi by my favorite littles!
Mom is a great name, but when I became Mimi? Well, that pretty much was the biggest blessing ever. I couldn’t be more proud of our 4 kids (the 2 that I gave birth to and the 2 that were brave enough to marry in). Our crew is competitive and fun family times often include playing board games like Acquire, Ticket to Ride and Settlers of Catan.
The me on the right continues to follow the THM plan because I believe in it. Because of how much better my body feels when I don’t eat sugar. Because I have food freedom to get back on plan in 3 hours even when I do. I became a THM Coach because I wanted to share the tips and tricks I learned on my journey with others who might struggle with some of the same things I did and still do. I wanted to help others find ways to improve their health.
If you’re on the left but want to be on the right, know that you can be. It’s not always easy. In fact it’s often really hard! I’ve learned that I can do hard things. I am now healthier. The me on the right will tell you that it’s all been worth it. That YOU are worth it!
